The Fall Of Music As An Art?

Release, Release, Release (Quantity vs. Quality)William Hung - Inspiration

Are iTunes and other music sites making music suck? Why is it so easy for music to be uploaded onto the Internet? Can artists just throw crap at the wall and see what sticks?

I’m no musician, but it seems like so much of the music out there now is not that good. The choruses (if they even exist) are weak, the content is just “bubble gum” and doesn’t appear to be well-developed.

Essentially I feel that there’s not really a whole lot of soul in the music these days.

Basically, the object of the game now is just to release as much as you can and market it. After that, develop the marketing behind the music, not the actual music.

The CraftDrake - Bad Music Meme

The artists that work hard at their craft and take time to produce quality music seem to be left behind. Are they too much of perfectionists? Are people nowadays in need of something new that they don’t really care whether or not it’s quality?

Unfortunately, I believe we’re living through a change in culture that is essentially killing off the craft. I hope there’s a return of life in the music, because right now, it’s getting a wee bit disturbing.

You don’t have to go far to find memes that seem to point this out…

Lest we forget William Hung’s music career who even had a Christmas album.

Another testament to the aforementioned possibility is this creation by O.T. Genasis – CoCo… “Baking soda… I got baking soda…” (2:58)?

Any thoughts on this, leave us a quick note below…
